About the Event
Tom Sherman is an artist and writer. He works across media (video, radio, performance, print and social media). He represented Canada at the Venice Biennale in 1980 and has exhibited his work in hundreds of international venues over the past five decades, including the Vancouver Art Gallery, National Gallery of Canada, the Whitney Museum and Museum of Modern Art in New York, Documenta X and Tate Britain. He was a recipient of Canada’s Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Art in 2010. He is widely published, most recently with his sixth book, Exclusive Memory: A Perceptual History of the Future, Goose Lane Editions/Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, 2023. He also has a new book in press, Marshall Needles Mosquitoes, Impulse[B] Press, Toronto, to be published this Fall. No stranger to the South Shore, Sherman has resided in Port Mouton, Nova Scotia for over 40 years. SCAC Art Talks are free and open to all.
