Roxy and the Underground Soul Sound Saturday, September 29, 8:00 PM

Back by popular demand after another sell-out performance at the Osprey last summer, Roxy & The Underground Soul Sound brings Motown, Soul, R&B, Funk, and all things groovy to the Osprey on Sept. 29 as part of our 15th anniversary season!

This tight eight-piece soul-funk band from Halifax takes the classic sounds of the 60’s and 70’s and puts their own spin on them with vocal powerhouse Roxy Mercier out front and a full rhythm section to back her up.

Band members include Ian Bennett (bass), Brendan Melchin (drums), Andrew MacKelvie (sax), Andrew ‘Ajax’ Jackson (trombone), Dan Chevier (guitar), Will Hansen (guitar), and Leith Flemming-Smith (keys/organ).

Recently, the group won Nova Scotia Music awards for best urban and best new group recording, as well as The Coast magazine’s gold award for Best R&B Band.

Bringing an authentic yet refreshing take on the music of yesterday, the group performs mostly original music and throws in timeless hits, as well as lost gems for the funk fanatics in the crowd.

Tickets: $20 adult, $7 student – available soon.
