MODIFIED, a first-person documentary that asks why genetically modified foods are not labeled in Canada and the US despite being labeled in 64 other countries. Interweaving the personal and the political, the film is anchored in Aube Giroux’s (the filmmaker’s) relationship to her mother, a passionate gardener and food activist. Their intimate mother-daughter investigative journey, fueled by a shared love of food, ultimately reveals the extent to which industrial interests control our food policies, making a strong case for a more transparent and sustainable food system. Called “enlightening and powerful,” this is a special film about global issues by a Nova Scotia filmmaker.
A special guest involved in the creation of this film will be on hand to introduce it and answer questions afterwards. Presented by the historic Cooper’s Inn on Shelburne’s waterfront.
